Welcome to St Mary's Catholic School Wellington

Welcome to St Mary’s Catholic School.
A message from our Principal, Mrs Leanne Clarke

"St Mary’s Catholic School is a Christ centred, inclusive community where individuals are supported to learn at high levels and to grow spiritually, socially and physically."
We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to each of us. (Romans 12:6)

St Mary's Catholic School is situated in the town of Wellington, which is located in the Central West of New South Wales. Wellington has a long history of Catholic Education with its first Catholic School opened in 1862 by a lay teacher. In 1883 the Sisters of Mercy began working in the school and had a presence until 1999.

Wellington is the second oldest town west of the Blue Mountains. It is located 354 kilometres north west of Sydney at the junction of the Macquarie and Bell Rivers. Wellington is a relatively small regional community with a surrounding population of 7300. Wellington is in close proximity to both Orange and Dubbo, which are large regional centres with most major services.

St Mary’s Catholic School offers an inclusive Catholic education for students from Kindergarten to Year 10. St Mary’s is administered by Catholic Education, Diocese of Bathurst. The Parish Priest is the designated manager of the school, with the Principal being responsible for the operation of the school.

St Mary’s is a professional learning community where educators work together to plan, teach and assess collaboratively, focusing on personalised learning for every individual. Our flexible learning groups cater for all abilities. We are equipped with the latest technology and modern facilities, which support learning and teaching within the school and beyond. It is expected that every child will learn to the best of their potential.

Our K-10 school setting is faith filled, nurturing and caring. Students are catered for spiritually, emotionally and socially in a safe and supportive family environment where every child matters. There are opportunities in a small school setting for school representation in all areas of the curriculum and in a variety of extra-curricular activities.

School Prayer

God Bless St Mary’s School,
Bless the children and the staff.
Let love and peace dwell among us.
Let our school be full of contentment.
Incline our hearts to be obedient and eager to learn.
O Mother of God, watch over us.
Grant us a steady hand and a watchful eye.
Teach us the beauty of the world
So that we may, with joy and courtesy,
Go life’s happy way.

Amen
